We are pleased to announce the production of a new quarterly journal, Marxist World, due out February 2016. We are launching this journal because we believe there is a huge disconnect between theory and practice on the Left. On the one hand, the main socialist organisations have their supporters caught up in electoralism and hyper-activism, with little in the way of theoretical development to guide them. Members are expected to simply follow the diktats of the leader through their mangled interpretations of “democratic centralism”. On the other hand, there is a lot of excellent Marxist theoretical work out there which could help serve as a guide to action, but is mainly confined to academia.

We believe that Marxist theory, and indeed the original works of Marx himself, should be made accessible to the working class. By this we do not mean “dumbing down” the contents to the lowest common denominator, but by introducing and explaining the material in order to support the reader get to grips with the ideas, concepts and analyses within Marxism. The journal will also provide commentary and analyses of contemporary and historical events, as well as open debates between different currents within Marxism.

Articles in issue one includes:

  • Overcoming capitalist crisis: anti-austerity or socialism?
  • Bernie Sanders vs. people’s institutions
  • An introduction to understanding Marx’s Capital
  • Debate on the class nature of the Chinese State
  • Review of Socialist Party DGS Hannah Sell’s “Socialism in the 21st Century”
  • And many more!

We are still firming up the journal contents but we anticipate it to be around 48 pages, and will be printed and ready to ship next month (February 2016).

[Pre-orders are closed and the journal is now available to buy]
